Preview: Hull City vs. Aston Villa

Sports Mole looks ahead to Aston Villa's trip to fellow strugglers Hull City in the Premier League.

Two teams in need of points go head to head at the KC Stadium on Tuesday night as Hull City entertain fellow strugglers Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Hull currently sit in the relegation zone, one point adrift of safety, following just two wins in their last 17 games.

However, they came close to causing one of the upsets of the season on Saturday against champions Manchester City, but a late goal from James Milner forced them to share the spoils at the Etihad Stadium.

With the teams packed together tightly in the bottom half of the table, a victory for the Tigers over Aston Villa could lift them as high as 15th place in the standings.

Hull's preparation for the match has been disrupted by speculation linking manager Steve Bruce with Fulham, though he has distanced himself from any talk surrounding his future.

Meanwhile, the Villans make the trip North just two points clear of the drop zone. Paul Lambert's side were beaten for the fourth consecutive time in the league on the weekend with a 2-1 loss at home to leaders Chelsea.

Despite finding the net against the title favourites through Jores Okore, Villa remain the lowest scorers in the top flight this season with just 12 goals in 24 games.

It was the Midlands club who came out on top in the reverse fixture earlier this season as goals from Gabriel Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann earned them a 2-1 win.

Long-term absentees James Chester, Liam Rosenior and Robert Snodgrass are all unavailable for the hosts, who are also without Mohamed Diame.

Christian Benteke could return for the visitors after being dropped to the bench for their defeat to Chelsea, while Philippe Senderos and Libor Kozak remain sidelined through injury.
