Aston Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo has acknowledged that it is not going to be easy to change the fortunes of the West Midlands club.
On Wednesday night, Villa suffered a 3-1 defeat to Luton Town in the EFL Cup, and Di Matteo has admitted that he found their capitulation at Kenilworth Road difficult to watch as they let slip a one-goal advantage.
The 46-year-old is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "It is painful to see and to take as well. We know it is a difficult job. We know that. We will keep working.
"I always knew it would be a difficult job to turn it around. It is a big job but we will get there in time."
Di Matteo has now lost both of his games in charge of Villa after they also fell to a 1-0 setback at Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday afternoon.
