Vicente del Bosque: 'Sport should be enjoyed by families'

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque comments on the death of a 43-year-old Deportivo La Coruna supporter, which was directly linked to football violence.

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque has said that "sporting events should be enjoyed by families" when questioned on the recent death of a Deportivo La Coruna supporter.

Spanish football was shocked on Sunday when a 43-year-old man, later revealed to be a Depor fan, lost his life following clashes with rival Atletico Madrid fans before their La Liga match.

Del Bosque has also claimed that he expects "the necessary authorities will take action" in a bid to prevent future tragedies.

"It's difficult to explain such an affair for those who see sport as something different. It is absolutely irrational and these radical supporters use the sport to gain more echo [for their actions]," Del Bosque is quoted as saying by Inside Spanish Football.

"Sporting events should be enjoyed by families. It's not a very rational thing that we see happening. I imagine that the necessary authorities will take action from here."

At least 11 other people were reportedly injured during the fighting.
