Samuel Umtiti reveals emotion of Barcelona move

Samuel Umtiti reveals that he was reduced to tears after learning that Barcelona were interested in signing him from Lyon.

New Barcelona centre-back Samuel Umtiti has admitted that he "cried a little" after being made aware that the Spanish champions wanted to sign him in this summer's transfer window.

The Frenchman, who made his international bow at Euro 2016, officially joined Luis Enrique's side earlier this week, signing a five-year contract with the Spanish giants.

The former Lyon defender has also revealed that it was "a dream" of his to one day represent Barcelona, who are believed to have parted with just over £21m to bring Umtiti to La Liga.

"I must thank all the people who have made this move possible. When I knew I had the possibility to come to Barca it really touched me, I cried a little even though I tried to hide my emotions," Umtiti told reporters.

"It has been a dream of mine - since childhood I wanted to come here. I'm very happy and excited to be here. I can't wait to play alongside these great players. I came here to progress and learn a lot with players who have more experience than me.

"I have come to the best club in the world and I hope to win everything here. My standards are very high, I'm a player and competitor and want to play. I will work hard and show that I have the quality to help the club, I know there a good players in my position. I am grateful for this chance, I hope to adapt and settle in quickly."

Umtiti was officially presented as a Barcelona player on Friday afternoon.
