Barcelona are willing to listen to suitable offers for Spanish defender Marcos Alonso, according to a report.

Barcelona would reportedly be willing to let Spanish defender Marcos Alonso leave the club during this summer's transfer window if a suitable offer arrived.

The 32-year-old arrived at Camp Nou on a free transfer last year following the expiration of his deal at Chelsea.

Alonso was a regular for Barcelona during the 2022-23 season, featuring on 37 occasions in all competitions, including 24 outings in Spain's top flight, as Xavi's side won the title.

The Spaniard has not yet been registered with La Liga for the current campaign, though, which has led to speculation surrounding his future.

Barcelona, who drew 0-0 with Getafe in their first game of the new season on Sunday, are believed to be confident that they will be able to register him without any issues.

However, according to The Athletic, a departure in the latter stages of the transfer window cannot be ruled out.

The report claims that the Catalan outfit would 'happily let go' of the experienced defender if a suitable offer arrived for his services.

When asked about Alonso's future last week, Barcelona boss Xavi told reporters: "I can say the same to you as I did with Ansu [Fati] or with everyone else. There is a market until 31 August and everything is open, anything can happen."

Alejandro Balde is undoubtedly the club's first-choice left-back, while Barcelona are said to be pushing to sign Manchester City's Joao Cancelo, who can operate in that area of the field.

Alonso is also down the pecking order in terms of the spots in the middle of the defence, although Ronald Araujo is facing a month out with a thigh problem, while Inigo Martinez is battling to overcome a foot issue.

There is allegedly no urgency to sell Alonso, with Xavi happy to keep hold of him this season, viewing him as a valuable squad member for a team chasing success in multiple competitions.

However, a good offer would be considered, as his departure would make room in the budget for new additions, with Cancelo believed to be wanted alongside Atletico Madrid's Joao Felix.
