Barcelona president Joan Laporta acknowledges that the Catalan giants may have reached 'the end of their current cycle'.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has acknowledged that he will "make a lot of decisions" during the summer.

Having missed out of the La Liga title, Ronald Koeman's future is up in the air at the same time that the Catalan giants are looking to hand Lionel Messi an extension to his contract.

With the club also said to be receiving a loan well in excess of £400m for new signings, Laporta has suggested that he plans to be proactive behind the scenes at Camp Nou.

Laporta is quoted by Marca as saying: "I said that I'd evaluate at the end of the season depending on the results and performances.

"We won the Copa del Rey, and we're proud of that, but we were knocked out of the Champions League early and La Liga was lost incomprehensibly.

"From my point of view, you'll see that a lot of decision have to be made, starting next week. We'll comment on them then. We have to work hard and and have a competitive team in the Champions League and domestically.

"When I say that this is the end of a cycle, it's because that's what I think is necessary."

Barcelona need to avoid defeat against Eibar on Saturday to secure third place in the La Liga table.
