Sergi Roberto is hopeful that he will spend at least another season at Barcelona, with the Spaniard calling for the club to hand him an extension.
The 31-year-old's existing deal with the Catalan outfit is due to expire at the end of June, although the La Liga champions have the option to extend the contract for a further 12 months.
Earlier this month, Barcelona boss Xavi called for the club to renew Roberto's deal, calling him an "important" part of his plans at Camp Nou moving forward.
"I would recommend to the club that they renew Sergi Roberto. They already know it. He is important, he can play in many positions," Xavi told reporters.
"You have to explain very little to him. He knows what Barca is, what it represents. A highly criticised footballer, but he always plays at a high level. I'm delighted with him."

Roberto has now expressed his happiness at Barcelona, with the midfielder hopeful that he will be given the chance to spend at least another campaign with the club.
"Being captain of Barca is a great dream. It makes me very excited and it would be very special to win the title as the first team captain," Roberto told reporters ahead of the Spanish Super Cup final with Real Madrid.
"I hope I can stay at the club for next season as a captain and lift another title."
Roberto has made 11 appearances for Barcelona this season, scoring three goals and registering one assist, with the Spaniard recovering from a muscular problem which sidelined him for more than a month towards the end of last year.

"I have always said that I am a midfielder. Since I was a kid I've played there, but due to circumstances I've played more as a full-back. This year I'm playing in midfield and I'm having a great time. I hope I can continue to help the team," he added ahead of Sunday's El Clasico.
"Last season's Super Cup final? It was one of the best games of last season. It was very important for us for the final stretch of the season. Hopefully it will give us the strength to take all the titles.
"In the Clasicos everything is equal. Both teams start off in the same situation. A Barca-Madrid game is always a final and tomorrow is a real final. There will be maximum rivalry and I hope that, like last year, we can play a good game.
"We have to be protagonists with the ball. Against Madrid you have to dominate the ball, but you have to be attentive. Against Real Madrid you can't take the game for granted until the last minute. They are in good form and with [Jude] Bellingham they have brought in a great player."
Roberto has made 360 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 19 goals and registering 41 assists, since making his debut for the Catalan outfit in 2010.
