Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has thanked his teammate Franck Ribery for letting him take the free kick from which he scored in their 2-1 win over Mainz 05 on Friday evening.
Schweinsteiger, who hadn't scored since April, says that Ribery was "a perfect gentleman".
After being a goal down only 20 minutes into the game, Schweinsteiger was given the nod from his teammate and scored Bayern's equaliser three minutes later.
"I've not actually practised set pieces since the World Cup, but Franck was a perfect gentleman, he left the free kick to me and said 'score'," the 30-year-old said, according to Goal.com.
"It wasn't easy but our determination was definitely there. It's good we have a break now."
Arjen Robben went on to score the game's winning goal in the 90th minute, after being set up by Thomas Muller.
