Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer is "delighted" with the loan signing of Bolton Wanderers midfielder Jay Spearing.
The ex-Liverpool player has joined Rovers until the end of the season and Bowyer has admitted that the deal came about suddenly.
He told the club's official website: "It all happened very quickly. We made contact with Bolton on Thursday afternoon and they were very good, helping get it done quickly and he goes straight into the squad tomorrow.
"We were very interested in him 18 months ago, so it's great to have him here. He had a great education, coming through at Liverpool and he knows the game. He has the ability to go forward and create something, so that's another positive.
"Jay's been out of the team at Bolton, but we wanted him to come here and show the hunger that he has and that was evident from the one training session he's had with us. He went there and won Player of the Year last season, so that shows how good he is."
Spearing could make his debut when Blackburn host Fulham in the Championship on Saturday.
