Lukasz Piszczek hopes that his Borussia Dortmund teammate will be able to play against Malaga on Wednesday despite his broken nose.

Borussia Dortmund's Lukasz Piszczek has said he is hopeful that fellow defender Marcel Schmelzer will recover in time to play against Malaga in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Schmelzer broke his nose following a challenge from Martin Harnik 24 minutes into the defending German champions' 2-1 away win against Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

"[It] is going to be an interesting match," Piszczek told Bundesliga.com. "Malaga are going to be tough opponents and I hope 'Schmelle' can play despite his injury. That would be good."

The first leg of the sides' quarter-final tie will be played in Malaga.
