A late Petr Jiracek header in the first half has put Hamburger SV a goal to the good against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
After a slow start, there were a couple of half-chances for the hosts inside the opening 10 minutes. Nuri Sahin fired a shot into the wall, before Lukasz Piszczek hammered the rebound well over the bar.
The first goalkeeper called into real action was Roman Weidenfeller for Dortmund. Jiracek cut inside off the left flank and tried to find the far corner, but the Dortmund man was able to hold on comfortably.
Chances were few and far between, but the next just after the half-hour mark fell the way of Dortmund. Kevin Grosskreutz had a small look at goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but his first-time effort went high.
However, just before the end of the half the struggling home side took the lead as Jiracek, Hamburg's most dangerous player of the first 45 minutes, as he met a Pierre-Michel Lasogga cross to head in.
