Benik Afobe "gutted" to lose on Bournemouth debut against West Ham United

Benik Afobe admits that he is "gutted" not to have won on his Bournemouth debut as the team were beaten 3-1 by West Ham United at home.

Benik Afobe has admitted that he is "gutted" to have lost his first game as a Bournemouth player.

The striker, who joined the Cherries from Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, made his first start in Tuesday night's 3-1 defeat to West Ham United at the Vitality Stadium.

Harry Arter put Bournemouth ahead in the first half, but Dimitri Payet scored and Enner Valencia netted twice to give the Hammers an away win.

Afobe had two decent opportunities to open his scoring account for the Cherries, but he squandered both.

After the game, the 22-year-old tweeted: "Gutted we lost on my @premierleague debut. Normally bury that chance I got but positive thinking and we go again Sat. Thanks everyone #afcb."

Bournemouth are 16th in the Premier League table, three points above the relegation zone.
