Head coach Thomas Frank describes Brentford's performance as "mind-blowing" as they defeat Manchester City by a 2-1 scoreline in the Premier League.

Head coach Thomas Frank has described Brentford's 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Saturday afternoon as 'one of the most satisfying' of his career.

On a day where City were looking for their 12th successive home win in the top flight, Brentford had failed to prevail on away territory in the top tier of English football all season.

However, the Bees produced one of the best performances in the Premier League this season, Ivan Toney deservedly giving his side the lead in the first half before he capped off a stunning counter-attack in the eighth minute of added-on time to seal one of the club's most famous wins in their history.

Although Brentford had to cope with pressure from Man City after Phil Foden's equaliser just before half time, the London outfit deserved their success in their final game before the World Cup.

With the triumph coming just four days after an EFL Cup defeat to fourth-tier Gillingham, Frank hailed Brentford's performance as "mind-blowing" as they stunned the defending champions on their own turf.

Frank told BBC Sport: "One of the most satisfying wins we've had, I think the playoff final will always be the one, getting us to the promised land. But, of course, it is up there.

"Speaking to some people from the club, this is probably the single biggest ever result, against one of the richest clubs in the world and we have one of the lowest budgets in the division. We're just a bus stop in Hounslow.

"From my perspective, it was well deserved if you look at the chances. I think we eliminated them. I'm unbelievably proud. We're missing four of our starters as well. Mind-blowing performance."

Toney netted both of Brentford's goals just two days after being overlooked for England's World Cup squad, and Frank could not resist talking up the influence of the forward.

The Dane added: "Fantastic, I can't praise him enough. How good a person he is, his emotional intelligence with his teammates and everyone around the club.

"But also, what a player! What a striker! He scored two, probably should have score one more. A hat-trick here, I thought that was only for [Erling Braut] Haaland."

Brentford, who now have 19 points from their 14 league games during 2022-23, are not back in action until they play host to Tottenham Hotspur on Boxing Day.
