Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri is keen to secure Champions League qualification following the club's recent promotion to Ligue 1.

Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri has claimed that the club now have their sights set on Champions League qualification following last weekend's promotion to Ligue 1.

Les Rouge et Blanc returned to the top flight for the first time in two years on May 11 when they were crowned Ligue 2 champions with a 1-0 win over Nimes.

"Our objective now is to play in the Champions League. Why would we not be able to make it into Europe again next season?" Ranieri told France Football.

"We will now have to build a very strong team, because there are plenty of good opponents in Ligue 1. We have to focus on Ligue 1 first."

Ranieri took charge at Monaco last summer following a brief spell with Inter Milan.
