Joey Barton has admitted that he did not join Burnley to make up the numbers in the Championship, but to instead lead to club to title success.
The 33-year-old penned a one-year deal with the Clarets in the summer transfer window following his Queens Park Rangers exit.
After making a positive start to life at Turf Moor, putting in a number of impressive personal displays to help his new side into third place, Barton has now set his sights on finishing at the top of the division.
"Getting promoted is always difficult to do," the Burnley Express quotes him as saying. "It'd be my third promotion in three years. I've been in the Championship twice before and I've been promoted those two years.
"I didn't come here to finish top 10, I haven't come here to see my career out, I've come here because I've still got a lot to offer and because I want to win the league. That's the goal for me. I won it with Newcastle and the plan is to win the league again."
Barton has made eight appearances for Burnley since joining, each of which have come in the Championship.
