Roberto Di Matteo refuses to panic following Chelsea's 2-1 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine.

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has played down his side's defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The defending European champions went down 2-1 to the Ukrainian side at the Donbass Arena, but the Italian refuses to read too much into the loss.

"I think we have to just look at this performance as a single one," he told Sky Sports News.

"They are a very strong team and they showed that again tonight. It's a difficult group we are in and the Champions League is always very competitive.

"You look at the other result in our group (1-1 draw between Nordsjaelland and Juventus) and it shows just how competitive it is."

Chelsea are currently second in Group E with four points from three matches.
