Both sides took part in a frantic start to the match but it was the hosts who went ahead in the 10th minute when Oscar got the final touch to Gary Cahill's header from a corner.

Despite showing little attacking menace during the opening half, Spurs got themselves level in spectacular fashion on 25 minutes as Emmanuel Adebayor curled the ball past a helpless Petr Cech from 25 yards.

However, Chelsea regained the lead with five minutes to play through Ramires, who latched on to Fernando Torres's pass to poke the ball beyond Hugo Lloris.
