Rafael Benitez admits Demba Ba enjoyed an impressive Chelsea debut after he scored twice in a 5-1 FA Cup win at Southampton this afternoon.

Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez has admitted that he was impressed with Demba Ba's overall contribution on his Blues debut this afternoon.

Ba bagged a brace in his first appearance since joining from Newcastle United as Chelsea brushed aside Southampton with a resounding 5-1 win at St Mary's.

Benitez believes that Ba can bring far more to the team than just goals and was delighted with his movement and awareness in the final third.

He told the club's official website: "Always important for a striker to score a goal but what is more important was his overall contribution.

"He has clever movement and the runs he makes will add to the team."

Chelsea did fall behind in the early going on the South Coast, but roared back thanks to goals from Ba, Branislav Ivanovic, Victor Moses and Frank Lampard.
