While several names have been linked with the role, Lampard has been the favourite from the start as the former Chelsea boss looks for a return to management.
According to Football Insider, talks have officially begun between the club and the Englishman about him potentially taking charge.
The report noted that Lampard is keen to return to management following his spells with Derby County and Chelsea, and this is a role he is keen to have.
