Jose Mourinho: "It was a clear penalty"

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is adamant that referee Andre Marriner was right to award his side a late penalty against West Bromwich Albion.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has insisted that referee Andre Marriner made the correct call in awarding his side a late penalty against West Bromwich Albion.

With the Blues trailing 2-1 in the 90th minute, Ramires was adjudged to have been brought down in the area by Steven Reid and Marriner pointed to the spot, much to the fury of the Baggies.

Eden Hazard converted the spot kick to earn Chelsea a point at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho told BBC Sport: "It was a penalty. I have watched it two or three times and it was a clear penalty in the same way it should have been a clear free kick against West Brom when they scored the second goal.

"We had a penalty which is always a difficult situation to accept for the team that is winning, but when they go home they will see on their screens that it was a situation where the referee did not make a mistake."

Chelsea are fourth in the Premier League following the draw with Steve Clarke's side.
