Jose Mourinho praises "intelligent" Fernando Torres

Jose Mourinho says that Fernando Torres showed "intelligent" striking instinct to score Chelsea's match-winning goal against Manchester City.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has lavished praise upon Fernando Torres following his match-winning strike late in the game against Manchester City.

The Spanish international took advantage of a mix-up between Matija Nastasic and Joe Hart to secure all three points deep in injury time at Stamford Bridge.

"The goal comes in a very intelligent action by Fernando," PA Sport quotes Mourinho as saying.

"Fernando was very clever the way he believed. Fantastic performance and even better because it was after an easy goal missed. That makes it even more valuable.

"When a striker misses an easy early chance, many times he's affected for the rest of the game. It looks like that moment was the moment where Fernando thought 'I will be the man of the match'."

The Blues are second in the Premier League.
