Timo Werner has scored his first goal for Chelsea just four minutes into his debut for the club.
The £54m summer signing was included in Chelsea's starting XI for their pre-season friendly against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium this afternoon and wasted little time in getting off the mark for his new club.
Werner opened the scoring against the Seagulls four minutes into his first appearance for Frank Lampard's side, firing home from Callum Hudson-Odoi's miscued header.
The German international's future was the subject of huge speculation earlier this summer, with Liverpool long regarded as favourites for his signature before pulling out of the race due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Werner is one of two Chelsea players making their debuts in their opening pre-season friendly this afternoon, with Hakim Ziyech also included in the starting lineup.
The match at the Amex Stadium is the first to trial allowing a limited number of spectators into the ground since the outbreak of COVID-19 forced games to be played behind closed doors.
