Cesar Azpilicueta says that academy graduate Billy Gilmour provides Chelsea with more "solutions" on the pitch.

Cesar Azpilicueta has heaped praised on Chelsea teammate Billy Gilmour, claiming that the academy graduate provides the team with more "solutions".

Despite making just his third senior start against Liverpool earlier this week, the 18-year-old starred as Chelsea recorded a 2-0 win in the FA Cup fifth round.

Chelsea's injury crisis in midfield means that the Scot is likely to be provided with regular opportunities in the coming weeks - something which Azpilicueta feels can only benefit the team.

Speaking to the club's official website, the Spaniard said: "What I remember about him since the beginning is that he always wants to give solutions.

"He has a great personality and that's why when he goes on the pitch he always wants the ball. The level he showed against Liverpool was amazing: the composure he had, the way he played, the way he defended, he fought for every ball."

Ahead of Chelsea's Premier League meeting with Everton on Sunday, Gilmour had made three starts and three substitute outings in all competitions this season.
