Gavi is reportedly no closer to reaching an agreement with Barcelona over a new contract.
The 17-year-old has broken into the first team at Camp Nou this season, making 35 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and five assists in the process.
Gavi's contract with the Catalan giants is due to expire in June 2023, though, and a number of Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Liverpool, are said to be keen to sign him.
According to El Nacional, discussions between the two parties over a new contract are 'at a standstill', with Barcelona not prepared to meet his demands.
The report claims that Gavi is aware he could receive a much higher salary in the Premier League, and the Catalan club's head coach Xavi has now become involved in the discussions.
Barcelona are allegedly planning to sit down with the teenager's agent during the international break in the hope of making progress in the talks, with the club fearful of losing him this summer.
Gavi has scored twice and provided five assists in 24 La Liga appearances this season, and he was a second-half substitute during the 4-0 win over Real Madrid on Sunday.
