Antonio Conte plays down reports of Cesc Fabregas departure in January

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte says that he is "very happy" that Cesc Fabregas is a part of his first-team squad at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has played down reports that Cesc Fabregas could leave Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that Fabregas - one of the club's highest earners - would be allowed to find a new club after Conte reverted to a 3-4-3 formation.

However, ahead of Chelsea's match with Everton at the weekend, Conte has indicated that the Spaniard remains a valued member of his squad.

The 47-year-old told reporters: "Fabregas is Chelsea's player, I am very happy to have him in my squad.

"Now is important for him to recover well and find the right form and stay with us and with the team."

Fabregas will not feature against the Toffees after only returning to training this week.
