Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho eager to hold talks with Ashley Cole

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho reveals that he intends to hold talks with Ashley Cole regarding his future.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he wants to speak with Ashley Cole, who can leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer this summer.

The left-back, who recently retired from international football, suggested at the end of the season that his time with the Blues had come to an end following the expiration of his contract.

The 33-year-old's future remains unclear, but Mourinho has revealed that he wants to speak with Cole, much like he did with Frank Lampard, who has decided to leave Chelsea.

"With Lampard I spoke a couple of weeks before the end of the Premier League, with Ashley I didn't get that chance," ESPN quotes Mourinho as saying.

"They are different situations. I want to see what is going on, what is going to happen, but I will speak to him."

Cole made just 17 Premier League appearances for the Blues last season after falling behind Cesar Azpilicueta in the pecking order.
