Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish gives full support to manager Alan Pardew

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish insists that the board are completely behind under-pressure manager Alan Pardew.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has insisted that the board are fully supportive of manager Alan Pardew, despite speculation over his future.

Pressure was growing on the 55-year-old's shoulders after recording six straight defeats in the Premier League, but he has been given room to breathe after the Eagles earned a 3-0 victory over Southampton at the weekend.

Palace remain in a precarious position as they reside 14th in the table, three points above the relegation zone.

Over the last couple of weeks, reports have emerged claiming that the London club have a contingency plan in place in the event that Pardew is dismissed, with former England boss Sam Allardyce thought to be a contender for the role.

However, Parish has publicly stated that he and the rest of the board are keen for Pardew to succeed, and he has dismissed suggestions that the club are in crisis.

"There's plenty right and we just need to fix the things that are wrong," Parish told talkSPORT. "[Pardew's position] is totally safe in that every manager is under pressure. It's a binary industry and you have to win football matches.

"Alan knows the game, we want him to succeed and everything is geared to help him succeed. He's a positive force around the football club. If you look at the league the top teams have gone onto a different level but it's very flat at the bottom.

"If we're in crisis then there are a lot of clubs in crisis. We need to get points on the board and everyone is behind Alan in doing that."

Palace have won just four of their 14 league games this season and have the fourth-worst defence in the division having conceded 26 goals so far.
