Watford reportedly face late competition from Crystal Palace in the race to sign Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr.
Having impressed for the Ligue 1 outfit and Senegal over the past 18 months, Sarr has emerged as a long-standing target for several teams in the Premier League.
However, according to L'Equipe, Watford and Palace are the two teams left standing as they bid to get what would be considered a significant coup over the line.
The Hornets have been in negotiations with the 21-year-old for some time, although his late return from holiday after the Africa Cup of Nations has left the door open for the Eagles.
The report adds that Palace regard Sarr as a potential replacement for Wilfried Zaha, who may be allowed to join Everton should they edge out their rivals on Thursday.
Sarr has contributed 13 goals from 59 outings in France's top flight over the past two seasons.
