Cristian Herrera pleased with Elche form

Elche forward Cristian Herrera believes that it has been a successful season for the Spanish club.

Forward Cristian Herrera has revealed that the Elche squad are delighted with their current position in the La Liga table with just 12 matches remaining.

Elche were promoted from the Segunda Division last season and had been expected to struggle. However, just 11 defeats from 26 matches has left them in 12th spot in the division.

"We'd happily have signed for being where we are right now, at the start of the season. We don't set ourselves objectives or targets for goals, so hopefully we'll carry on the way we are," he told reporters at a press conference.

"I'm enjoying the confidence of the coach. At a personal level, I'm learning a great deal and that's with the intention of improving myself more.

"I'm playing in the best league in the world, given how high the competition and equality is."

Herrera made the step up from the B team this season.
