England defender Leighton Baines encourages the nation to win both of their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Leighton Baines has expressed the importance that England collect maximum points from their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro.

Following two victories and two draws from their first four matches, the Three Lions go into the double-header a couple of points behind group leaders Montenegro.

With six points up for grabs, Everton full-back Baines has insisted that England should be aiming to end the season top of the standings.

"The first game is one that everyone expects us to win and is a game we must win," he told the Football Association's official website. "Then it's a tougher game after that, one that's going to be really difficult and one that we really need to win.

"We want to finish the season in terms of qualifying on a high and in the best possible position to pick it up at the start of next season. The two draws put us under more pressure to win this one and the worst case is that we don't lose the game."

Baines has been tipped to start ahead of Ashley Cole during both matches.
