Talking to Sports Mole, Martin Keown backs Everton to possibly reach the final of this season's FA Cup.

Martin Keown has tipped his former club Everton to have a good run in this season's FA Cup.

The Toffees reached the semi-finals last year where they were knocked out by local rivals Liverpool, despite having taken a 1-0 lead through Croatian striker Nikica Jelavic.

However, Keown has told Sports Mole that the hurt from that experience could drive David Moyes's team on to going one better this time around.

"That will be about [getting a] home draw and getting the right teams at the right time. They got to the semi-final last year and that will have been a painful experience, which might give them enough motivation to get there this time," he said.

"I felt on the day [against Liverpool] they came up just short and didn't play their football. I made them the favourites without doubt. It was one of those occasions where Liverpool didn't have the best of starts but came good in the end. That will have hurt.

"I remember being on the pitch having somehow lost an FA Cup to Liverpool and vowing that we would be back there in 12 months. I know that it sounds cliche maybe, but we were genuinely saying that and we went on to do it."

Everton take on League Two side Cheltenham Town in round three of the competition tomorrow night.
