St Mirren manager Danny Lennon believes that Neil Lennon would be successful if he were appointed as the new Everton boss.

St Mirren manager Danny Lennon believes that Everton would benefit from appointing Celtic boss Neil Lennon as David Moyes's successor.

The Merseyside outfit are in the hunt for a new leader following the Scotsman's decision to agree a six-year contract with the Red Devils following Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement announcement.

Lennon has been tipped as one of the potential candidates to move to Goodison Park, along with Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez.

"There is no doubt Neil could handle the Everton job," BBC Sport quotes Lennon as saying. "The experience he has picked up here in his short spell as a manager, the way he has handled himself, shows he has matured into a man who could go and lead a top club."

Moyes will leave the Toffees on July 1 after 11 years in charge.
