New Everton signing Wayne Rooney has confirmed that he will travel to Tanzania to take part in the club's first pre-season fixture later this week.
The 31-year-old put pen to paper on a return to his boyhood club yesterday, 13 years after departing Goodison Park for a record-breaking stint at Manchester United.
Rooney reported for his first training session with Ronald Koeman's side today and later revealed that he will be part of the squad to face Gor Mahia on Thursday.
"I'm looking forward to it - it should be a good trip," he told evertontv. "It'll be nice and hopefully I'll get on the pitch and get some game time.
"It's good when you go away with the team. It's good to be around the hotel with the players, spend more time with them and get to know them more.
"I've never been to Tanzania before, so I'm really looking forward to it."
Rooney will face the media for the first time since his switch in a press conference later this afternoon.
