France boss Didier Deschamps has challenged Anthony Martial to become a key player for his country after handing the Manchester United forward a call-up for the international friendlies against Wales and Germany.
Martial has not represented France since October 2016, but his impressive form for United in the early stages of the 2017-18 campaign has seen him return to the fold.
Deschamps has revealed that he has been impressed with the 21-year-old's form this season, and wants the attacker to prove that he can become a key player ahead of next summer's World Cup.
"He continues to be effective. He hasn't been in the last five or six squads. Anthony was at the Euro. He had a more difficult time after that, and he's come back well," Deschamps told reporters.
"I see him playing well, he's effective when he comes off the bench, but I don't want to just reduce him to a substitute role. He's coming back, he might have come back last time."
Martial has scored just once in 15 appearances for his national team.
