Mark Hughes hopes for quick Fulham return to Premier League

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes wishes his former club Fulham a quick return to the Premier League following their relegation from the top flight on Saturday.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has wished his former club Fulham a quick return to the Premier League following their relegation.

The Potters condemned Fulham to the second tier of English football on Saturday with a comfortable 4-1 win at the Britannia Stadium.

"I've seen a number of people that worked really hard for me when I was at Fulham and obviously they're very upset at the moment," the Welshman is quoted as saying by Goal.com.

"You don't like to see people who you've worked with go through that, but it's an unforgiving league unfortunately and you have to get the job done, which we have been able to and unfortunately Fulham haven't.

"There's a lot of good people there and good staff that helped me a great deal, so I hope they bounce back quickly."

Hughes left his role as manager of Fulham in June 2011 following one season in charge at Craven Cottage.
