Jerome Boateng eyes World Cup success

Germany defender Jerome Boateng believes that his side can win the World Cup in Brazil this summer.

Germany defender Jerome Boateng believes that his side can win the World Cup this summer.

The three-time champions are among the favourites to lift the trophy in Brazil and Boateng is confident that they can have a successful tournament.

"There are great teams in Brazil, Argentina, also Spain. But we go to win the title, and I think the pressure is good for us. Of course we want to show we can take the title," he told the New York Times.

"If you are afraid or not confident you can't play good. If you can't stand the pressure you cramp on the pitch and can't play freely. We know we can go far so let's show the world what we can do."

Boateng has won 36 caps for German national side since making his debut in 2009.
