New Hamburger SV manager Bert van Marwijk has claimed that the team is "very confused" after taking charge of the Bundesliga strugglers.
The former Dutch national coach signed a two-year deal with the club on Tuesday.
Hamburg are currently one point above the automatic relegation zone in the table after taking four points from their opening six matches.
"The team is very confused, it's not playing well and is letting in too many goals," Van Marwijk is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "We have to leave the bottom of the table as quickly as possible."
Hamburg return to Bundesliga action on Saturday when they travel to Eintracht Frankfurt.
