Moore said Ipswich would not be propping up the Championship for much longer.

West Brom manager Darren Moore praised his side for their "accomplished performance" as they moved up to second in the Championship following a 2-1 victory at struggling Ipswich.

Moore believes that the home side would not be propping up the league table for much longer as they came close to sharing the points with a late Kayden Jackson goal reducing the deficit.

Meanwhile, Town manager Paul Lambert echoed his fellow manager's comments and hailed his team for their battling qualities.

A goal in each half from Jay Rodriguez (26) and Harvey Barnes (77) put West Brom ahead but they had to hang on to their lead as Jackson pulled a goal back late on and fellow substitute Jack Lankester saw his stoppage-time free-kick go just wide.

Moore said: "I thought after 10 to 15 minutes we were in total control of the game and I thought we created chances in the first half. I thought we created chances in the second half.

"We scored two very good goals tonight and whatever it may be, young (defender) Tosin (Adarabioyo) will learn from it. It's a good one to learn from, it didn't cost us the three points and it will stand him in good stead because I thought he had a fantastic game tonight.

"I thought he showed his adaptability, his versatility.

"It was an accomplished performance from us. I thought our positional sense was excellent in the game. I was pleased to come away with the three points.

"We knew we had to be good tonight and they (Ipswich) won't be where they are for much longer because in terms of how they play with a very, very good experienced manager – it's three very, very good points for us today."

The defeat left the home side five points adrift at the bottom of the table and resulted in Lambert's first defeat since taking over last month.

The Ipswich boss said: "We were up against a really top, top side that has just been relegated and has not lost many players.

"We went toe-to-toe with them and – in the second half – I thought we were outstanding and judging by the fans reactions, they got right behind them.

"We've got a really young side. West Brom are a top side but we were absolutely brilliant.

"Every game I've been involved with they have given me everything and I am absolutely delighted with how they played."

And he also personally thanked the Town supporters at Portman Road.

He added: "A big thanks to the supporters who were brilliant the whole game, the atmosphere was outstanding and that's the way it should be in football. They were brilliant along with everybody else.

"The support, my God almighty, that was absolutely great and a big thanks from me."
