Claudio Ranieri: 'Today was a battle'

Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri praises his side after their 2-1 victory over Norwich City.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has said that his side were 'in a battle' as they fought to a 2-1 victory against Norwich City at Carrow Road this afternoon.

A Jamie Vardy penalty and a goal from Jeffrey Schlupp were enough to give the Foxes the three points against Alex Neil's side.

"For me, it's important to maintain the English spirit in the team. We have very good English players, but also the others.

"Today was a battle, we knew that after our defeat against Arsenal we wanted a good performance and I'm satisfied. I like it when there is a battle," Ranieri told BBC Sport.

"I think there could have been a lot of penalties. On every corner a player takes a shirt and it was difficult.

"The second goal was fantastic because we knew Norwich were pushing hard and were very strong, so it was important to score again. But we created eight or nine chances and it was a good match for the fans."

Leicester City, who are now fourth in the table, are next in action when they face Southampton on October 17.
