Leicester City reportedly open talks with Jonny Evans over a new contract at the King Power Stadium, with both parties keen to sort out fresh terms soon.

Leicester City have reportedly begun negotiations with Jonny Evans over a new deal at the King Power Stadium.

The former Manchester United man has been a consistent performer in the heart of Brendan Rodgers's defence at Leicester, but Evans is now in the final year of his contract with the Foxes.

However, according to The Athletic, the two parties have started talks over extending the 32-year-old's deal with the current Premier League table-toppers, and there should not be any issues whatsoever as both Evans and Leicester want to sort out fresh terms as quickly as possible.

The Northern Ireland international has turned out 80 times for the Foxes in all competitions since arriving in 2018, notching up three goals in that time.

Evans has been struggling with a back problem as of late but played the full 90 minutes in Leicester's 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend, and the centre-back has been included for Northern Ireland's November fixtures.

Evans and co will be taking on Slovakia in their Euro 2020 qualifying playoff final on Thursday before facing Austria and Romania in the Nations League later this month.
