Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has admitted that he wanted to carry on playing, despite briefly losing consciousness on the pitch during Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final against Blackburn Rovers.
The 30-year-old was stretchered off at Anfield with his neck in a brace after he landed awkwardly following a collision in the air with Rudy Gestede just three minutes into the match.
Skrtel was taken to hospital as a precaution, but has insisted that he is feeling okay and has not suffered any ill-effects of the incident.
"Everything is alright," Skrtel wrote on Instagram. "I was unconscious for a bit but glad it is nothing serious.
"I wanted to carry on but fair play to the physios, they didn't let me - that's the rules! Off for a couple of days with the family. Thanks for all your support. YNWA."
The Championship side were able to hold Liverpool to a goalless draw and force through a replay.
