Jurgen Klopp: 'Emre Can injury not too serious'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reveals that the ankle injury sustained by Emre Can during the EFL Cup victory over Burton Albion is "not that serious".

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the injury suffered by Emre Can during this evening's EFL Cup clash with Burton Albion is "not that serious".

The Germany international appeared to roll his ankle during the second half at the Pirelli Stadium, and limped off shortly afterwards to be replaced by Kevin Stewart.

Can has suffered problems with ankle injuries before, but Klopp does not believe that the midfielder will spend another lengthy spell on the sidelines.

"He had a little pain in his ankle without any touch - I couldn't see any contact. It was a long leg, then a little bit floppy and then he had pain," he told reporters.

"But it is not that serious. It's not that big [of a] pain anymore, but it's the ankle he had problems with at the end of last season, so he's a little bit worried. Hopefully it's nothing too serious."

Divock Origi also limped off in the closing stages of Liverpool's 5-0 win, although Klopp confirmed that the Belgian was only suffering from cramp.
