Jordan Henderson has acknowledged that Liverpool were not at their best against Crystal Palace but is pleased to have ground out a 2-1 win at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles took the lead on 13 minutes via a Luka Milivojevic penalty, but Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah struck in the second half to claim all three points.

Despite boasting the lion's share of possession, Liverpool were made to work hard for their victory and captain Henderson is pleased with his side's resolve.

"It was a big result," Henderson told Sky Sports News at the end of Saturday's game. "We were not at our best, but we kept going and fighting.

"It is a sign of a good team to win while not playing our best. We kept finding a way and Mo got another goal to win the game.

"At half time we thought we could get back in the game and win it. The lads reacted brilliantly. We grinded out the result and that gives us momentum for the game on Wednesday."

Liverpool host Manchester City in their Champions League quarter-final first leg in midweek before taking on Everton in Saturday's Premier League Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
