Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: 'No headache with Christian Benteke'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists that Christian Benteke's goalscoring form is not giving him a selection headache in attack.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Christian Benteke's form is not giving him a selection headache in attack.

For the second game in a row, Benteke scored the only goal of the match as Liverpool finished 2015 with victory at Sunderland tonight to move up to seventh, level on points with Manchester United, in the Premier League.

Benteke's goal arrived just 23 seconds after half time when he slotted home after Adam Lallana had inadvertently diverted Nathaniel Clyne's pass perfectly into the Belgian's path.

"That's Christian Benteke time," Klopp told Sky Sports News. "In a situation like that he has the nose for it and the skills.

Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge both sat out tonight through injury, but the duo are expected to return soon. Klopp is not bothered about having to pick between his frontmen, though.

"Who has a headache? I have no problem with this, every player could do it and it's really good for us," he added. "Two goals, six points, two clean sheets - it's the best thing for us."

Liverpool begin their football in 2016 with a trip to West Ham United, who they are one place and one point above, on Saturday.
