Liverpool fans to protest against ticket prices after boycotting Hull City trip

Hundreds of Liverpool supporters plan to protest against the rise of ticket prices tonight after boycotting the Reds' trip to Hull City.

Hundreds of Liverpool fans are planning to hold a protest outside of Anfield this evening after refusing to attend their side's Premier League trip to Hull City due to ticket prices.

The Spirit of Shankly supporters union have arranged to protest behind the Albert pub at 6.45pm before watching the Reds' fixture on television in a local bar.

The decision to boycott the trip to Hull has been made due to the £50 asking price to away fans to visit the KC Stadium.

Last season, the trip cost Liverpool supporters £35, while visiting Stoke City fans were asked to pay just £16 to watch their side play Hull in August.

A statement from the Spirit of Shankly said: "None of this is a threat. We aren't threatening more boycotts. We aren't threatening to withdraw our support. We aren't saying give us what we want or else.

"What we have is a promise. That if clubs continue with the morally questionable pricing policies, that if they continue to see football ticket prices as nothing more than an item on a spreadsheet, that if they keep trying to hide behind each other and that if they see us as nothing more than consumers then they will be responsible for the empty stands. That they will be responsible for the lack of atmosphere at stadiums around the country."

Fans will also gather outside the Premier League headquarters in Gloucester Place in London at 6.30pm.
