James Milner has revealed that it will be a "great honour" for him to lead out Liverpool against Everton in the Merseyside derby this afternoon.
The 30-year-old has assumed the captain's armband in absence of Jordan Henderson, who has been ruled out for the next six weeks due to a broken foot, and is determined to guide his side to success at Goodison Park.
Milner told Sky Sports News: "Obviously I'd prefer not to [be captain] as Hendo [Jordan Henderson] is a big part of this team, and will be a big miss for us.
"But it's a great honour to lead Liverpool out for a game like this. I'm at that stage in my career where I can help the younger players out and set an example for games like this."
