Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has claimed that Mohamed Salah deserves to be considered "a big candidate" for the Ballon d'Or.
Salah has enjoyed an excellent first campaign with Liverpool, with 44 goals being scored from 51 appearances, and the Egyptian international has played a key role in the English club's run to the Champions League final.
Muller has acknowledged that the winger is providing competition for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and admits that the world would like to see a new winner of the accolade.
The 28-year-old told The Mirror: "I think that Mo Salah was very impressive. Maybe if Liverpool can win the Champions League title, he's a big candidate.
"The whole world is looking for a new Ballon d'Or winner. Leo Messi and Ronaldo are outstanding, but the performance of Salah this season was also outstanding. I think he has a great chance."
Salah and Ronaldo will go head to head when Liverpool face Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday evening.
