Graeme Souness: 'Christian Benteke could star for Liverpool'

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness tips Christian Benteke to be a "superstar" for the Reds.

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has stated that Christian Benteke could be a "superstar" for the Reds.

The Belgian international has featured in all four of Liverpool's Premier League games since moving to Anfield from Aston Villa for £32.5m earlier this summer.

Souness has suggested that the striker could be a key part of Brendan Rodgers's side this season.

"He has the potential to be an absolute star," Souness told Sky Sports News. "If he's fully fired up and motivated, he could take the Premier League by storm and be a superstar at Liverpool.

"But if you have a Benteke who picks and chooses when he plays well then it might not be good enough. A lot of Liverpool's success this season will rely on Benteke."

Liverpool travel to rivals Manchester United on Saturday.
