Former Liverpool defender Jim Beglin believes that Luis Suarez holds the key to the club's future.

The Uruguayan has recently admitted that he would like to stay at the club despite speculation linking him with a move away from Anfield.

Beglin said in the Daily Star: "I'm looking to Suarez honouring what he said when he indicated he was happy at Liverpool and wants to stay.

"I hope it wasn't empty talk because he is so important to my old club's future.

"He's up there with the best players in the world and Liverpool need to keep him as he will also attract other top stars to the club."

Suarez has scored 29 goals this season for Liverpool in 43 appearances in all competitions.
