Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly considered a move for experienced attacker Franck Ribery earlier this summer.
The 36-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season.
According to L'Equipe, Klopp had been eyeing a swoop for the Frenchman if one of his attacking players left Anfield ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
Daniel Sturridge moved on at the end of last term following the expiration of his contract, but the likes of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri have stayed with the Merseyside club despite the speculation surrounding their futures.
As a result, the report claims that the Champions League winners are now unlikely to move for Ribery this summer.
The veteran scored 124 goals in 425 appearances for Bayern between 2007 and 2019, winning nine Bundesliga titles and one Champions League in addition to a number of other trophies.
